Mr.Right and latin lettre
October 1, 2011

Last week, I wrote a beautiful love lettre of Catullus in Latin to Mr. Right (geeky, I know)

unfortunately it did not help, but it was worth a shot.
For the Latin Lovers here, there will be no problem understanding, but since there aren’t so many, I will translate it for you.
I hope it will move you as much as it moved me.

Vivamus, meus Mr. Right, atque amemus,
rumoresque senum severiorum
omnes unius aestimemus assis!
Soles occidere et redire possunt:
nobis, cum semel occidit brevis lux,
nox est perpetua una dormienda.
Da mi basia mille, deinde centum, dein mille altera,
dein secunda centum, deinde usque altera mille, deinde centum.
Dein, cum milia multa fecerimus,
conturbabimus illa, ne sciamus,
aut ne quis malus inividere possit,
cum tantum sciat esse basiorum.

Let us live, my Mr. Right, so let us love,
let us not care about all the rumors
the old men tell about us!
The sun can rise and go under again:
when once for us a short light has rised,
we have to sleep an eternity.
Give me thousand kisses, afterwards hundred, then a second thousand,
then a second hundred, then again a second thousand, and then again hundred.
Then, when thousands of kisses are made,
we will lie about the amount, so that we don’t know,
and so that a bad guy can’t be jealous,
when he knows it were so many kisses.
